In addition, a thesis (6 credits) is required of all students receiving financial support. Others may choose six credits of electives.

Electives (9 to 15 credits)
Electives may be chosen from a wide variety of courses at NJIT and Rutgers, including courses in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy Studies, Industrial Hygiene, etc.

Courses are also offered in Trenton at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). These courses are open to non-DEP employees. For more information, contact the graduate program director.
